Kitsilano Kitty’s Closet, an online boutique fashion re-seller and part of the TattCafe International lifestyle brand, is celebrating their e-store launch with a fundraiser for BC animal rescue organizations. Dubbed ‘Project Doggie Jacket’, the company’s mission (besides offering unique, eclectic and eccentric fashion) is to create and follow through on seasonal fundraisers for charities they are passionate about.
After scooping up 1,200 Goochie Poochie (Surrey, BC) doggie jackets online for literally pennies on the dollar, Helen Siwak, president of TattCafe International decided that the time is perfect for a Back-To-School themed Fall Fundraiser that would support any registered animal rescue group in British Columbia that wanted to come on board.
“We start this fundraiser today with 1,200 doggie jackets, one rescue supermodel pooch named Rue and the support of four amazing groups: Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA), Small Animal Rescue Society of BC (SARS), CritterAid in Summerland, BC and the Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary” says Helen Siwak. “These groups receive no permanent funding, have no paid staff and exist through donations and the hardworking and dedicated volunteers who provide the care that local abandoned and abused animals deserve.”
TattCafe International is the parent company of TattCafe and Smoking-Lovers online niche dating websites, and now Kitsilano Kitty’s Closet. Founders Helen Siwak and Vladimiros Xanthopoulos’ companies have always supported animal rescue and donate 10% of their gross sales to the Friends of Animals Nea Filadelphia rescue shelter in Athens, Greece, where they volunteered for three years before moving to Canada, where they now focus on fundraising.
“When Helen approached us to become involved in this unique fundraiser, we were very excited! Every day at Noelle’s Pet Love we care for rescues. They bring such happiness into people’s lives that we couldn’t say no to being the promotional sponsor.” says Noelle King, licensed vet tech and owner of Noelle’s Pet Love.
